Director, Experimental & Translational Research

Torsten P. Vahl, MD is the Director of Experimental & Translational Research as well as an attending physician at the Structural Heart & Valve Center and at the Center for Interventional Vascular Therapy at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Vahl is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center.

Dr. Vahl is board certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease, echocardiography, and internal medicine, and he specializes in the percutaneous treatment of coronary artery and structural heart disease, as well as cardiac catheterization.

Dr. Vahl attended medical school at the Philipps-University in Marburg, Germany. He did his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City.  He also completed a fellowship in both interventional cardiology and structural interventional cardiology, with a focus on valvular heart disease, at Columbia University Medical Center.
